Agriculture students are invited to apply for scholarships from the Murray Wise Associates Foundation. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 31.
"We're delighted to be able to offer scholarships for the 18th straight year. These are based on merit and are available regardless of where the student plans to study," said Murray Wise, chairman of the foundation.
"Every aspect of agriculture has become more demanding. Today's farmers increasingly have to be experts not only in the sciences, but also in data management, economics, risk management, marketing and other disciplines. More than ever, a good college education is essential to a successful career in agriculture," said Wise.
To be eligible, applicants must be either undergraduate students already in college or high school seniors accepted for enrollment at an accredited college, university or community college in a course of study related to agriculture. Scholarships are for a minimum of $1,000 and may be renewed annually for up to four years, provided conditions are met.
Selection is based on academic credentials, including grade point average, class rank, test scores, and evidence of commitment to the past, present and future of agriculture.
The secure application process is located at app.MurrayWiseAssociates.com. It includes a questionnaire and provides a way to upload transcripts, letters of reference and other supporting documents before submitting a complete package for consideration.
